🌱 Planting Hope, Restoring Nature, Empowering Children: The Indigenous Friends of the Mau Forest World Environment Day 2026 Impact Story🌱
Today, on World Environment Day 2026, Indigenous Friends of the Mau Forest proudly brought together students, teachers, health professionals, community leaders, mentors, artists, and partners at Nkareta Primary School for a transformative day of environmental action, education, and empowerment. What began as a tree-planting exercise became a powerful investment in the future of our children and our planet. Together, we planted trees that will restore ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and contribute to climate resilience for generations to come. But we also planted something equally important, knowledge, confidence, dignity, and hope. Through mentorship sessions, boys and girls received guidance on adolescence, responsibility, menstrual health and hygiene, the dangers of early sexual activity, the importance of education, disability inclusion, and drug abuse prevention. The day was filled with learning, laughter, creativity, and meaningful conversations that will continue to shape young lives long after today. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible partners and supporters whose commitment made this initiative possible: 🤝 Tareto Africa – for generously donating two boxes of sanitary pads and helping ensure that girls can continue pursuing their education with dignity and confidence. 🤝 Narok Albinism Association – for championing disability awareness and inclusion. 🤝 2Bonge na Tosh Productions – for bringing creativity, entertainment, and life-changing mentorship to the learners. 🤝 Nkareta Health Centre – for supporting community health education and engagement. 🤝 Hillary Rono and all individual supporters who stood with us to make this vision a reality.
